New Diana fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Mount Vernon on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mount Vernon Tigers by a score of 8-7. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

New Diana's loss dropped their record down to 7-6-1. As for Mount Vernon, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3-1.

Looking ahead, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when New Diana Eagles challenge Pleasant Grove Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mount Vernon, they will take on Farmersville at 1:45 p.m. on Thursday.
