Volleyball Recap: Schulenburg Finds Playoff Glory Versus Flatonia

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Schulenburg had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Flatonia Bulldogs, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was nothing new for the Shorthorns as they're now sitting on ten straight.

Schulenburg was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 26-28, 23-25, 25-16, 15-12.

Schulenburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jenna Guentert, who had 32 digs and two assists. That's the most digs Guentert has posted over her last six matches. Another player making a difference was Michaela Kollmann, who had 17 digs and five aces.

Schulenburg was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in ten consecutive matchups.

Schulenburg's win bumped their record up to 35-14. As for Flatonia, their loss ended a six-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-22.

Coming up, Schulenburg will square off against Leon at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Flatonia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
