Baseball Recap: Hubbertville Takes Down Coosa Christian in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Hubbertville had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Coosa Christian Conquerors on Friday. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 11-1 victory the Conquerors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Hubbertville's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Blaize Wakefield, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Wakefield has hit this season.

Hubbertville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Coosa Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-11.

Hubbertville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Conquerors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
