Baseball Recap: Illinois Valley Central Takes a Loss

Illinois Valley Central has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.71 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They lost 10-4 to the Dunlap Eagles. The defeat continues a trend for the Grey Ghosts in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost eight in a row.

Cole Yates was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brynden Coventry, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Illinois Valley Central's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Dunlap, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Coming up, Illinois Valley Central will challenge Richwoods at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dunlap, they will square off against Limestone at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
