Softball Game Preview: Red Land Patriots vs. Bishop McDevitt Crusaders

The Red Land Patriots will venture away from home to take on the Bishop McDevitt Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Red Land will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

While Red Land didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-8), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over Hershey on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Bishop McDevitt was able to grind out a solid win over Gettysburg on Tuesday, taking the game 7-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.

Janna Thomas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Thomas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Alivia Whiteside was a standout: she scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Roadcap, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Red Land's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop McDevitt, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
