Baseball Game Preview: Pacific Ridge Firebirds vs. St. Joseph Academy Crusaders

For the second straight game, Pacific Ridge will face off against St. Joseph Academy. Pacific Ridge will square off against St. Joseph Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

Pacific Ridge barely beat St. Joseph Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Pacific Ridge was the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over St. Joseph Academy on Wednesday. The Firebirds' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Brendan Huggett was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madden Lafleur, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cal Chivers, who scored two runs.

Pacific Ridge's record now sits at 2-3. As for St. Joseph Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
