Cornerstone Christian Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Liberty Christian Academy Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Cornerstone Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
Cornerstone Christian Academy put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They really took it to Sandhills Classical Christian for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-24 win at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-16.
Cornerstone Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Joseph Lemmon out in front who scored 30 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lemmon has scored at least a third of Cornerstone Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Bennett, who scored 22 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Liberty Christian Academy, who are still winless after their sixth game. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 45-25 walloping at the hands of Antioch Christian Academy on Tuesday. The contest was a close 15-12 at the break, but unfortunately for Liberty Christian Academy it sure didn't stay that way.
Liberty Christian Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tanner Kuykendall, who scored 11 points, and Bryan Bunnells who scored six points.
Cornerstone Christian Academy's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Liberty Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Cornerstone Christian Academy took their win against Liberty Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 61-35. With Cornerstone Christian Academy ahead 29-8 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
