Basketball Game Preview: Saltillo Tigers vs. Olive Branch Conquistadors

Saltillo is 0-3 against Olive Branch since January of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The Saltillo Tigers will challenge the Olive Branch Conquistadors at 5:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Saltillo comes in on seven and Olive Branch on three.

Last Tuesday, Saltillo was able to grind out a solid victory over South Panola, taking the game 68-56. Given Saltillo's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while South Panola is ranked 170th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Olive Branch earned a 72-60 win over Center Hill on Tuesday.

Olive Branch is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Saltillo, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4.

Saltillo was dealt a bruising 88-40 loss at the hands of Olive Branch in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Saltillo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
