Softball Recap: Burroughs Has No Trouble Against Hesperia

Burroughs's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Hesperia Scorpions with a sharp 15-2 win. The Burros haven't had any issues with the Scorpions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Isabella Farinha was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lorrain Gamble was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2024. Hailey Parks also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Burroughs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hesperia only posted an OBP of .190.

Burroughs' win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Hesperia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-16-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Burroughs will take on rival Oak Hills at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Hesperia is set to square off against their familiar foe Apple Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
