Football Game Preview: Primero Bulldogs vs. Mountain Valley Wolves

The Primero Bulldogs will square off against the Mountain Valley Wolves at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Primero had been on a five-game streak of scoring at least 31 points, but Sierra Grande put an end to it on Friday. The Bulldogs were dealt a 45-8 loss at the hands of the Panthers. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost nine in a row.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 48-7, which was the final score in Mountain Valley's tilt against Bethune on Saturday.

Mountain Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Primero, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.

Saturday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Primero has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 206.8 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Mountain Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 71 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?

Everything came up roses for Primero against Mountain Valley in their previous meeting back in October of 2023, as the squad secured an 80-52 win. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
