Football Recap: Southeast Career Tech Beats Foothill for Their Third Straight Victory

Southeast Career Tech entered their tilt with Foothill on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 19-6 win over the Foothill Falcons. This was payback for the Roadrunners, who suffered a 26-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Southeast Career Tech had a senior duo take command as Melody Velazquez picked up 64 receiving yards and two touchdowns and Leyla Randolph rushed for 47 yards and one touchdown. Randolph also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making one tackle and defending three passes.

Southeast Career Tech didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jaelyn Sotelo, Velazquez, Jayla Elfberg, and Aysia Suyat picked up one apiece. Sotelo is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as she's now defended at least one in the last three games she's played.

Despite the loss, Foothill still got an impressive performance from Savannna Truax, who rushed for 148 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, and also picked up 42 receiving yards. Foothill also got help from Brooke Reed, who showed off her sure hands for 102 receiving yards.

Southeast Career Tech has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.6 points per game. As for Foothill, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Southeast Career Tech wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 48-6 victory against Silverado on the 11th. As for Foothill, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 27-0 win against Spring Valley on the 9th.
