Softball Game Preview: Wadsworth Grizzlies vs. Cloverleaf Colts

Wadsworth has gone a perfect 3-0 against Cloverleaf recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Grizzlies will face off against the Colts at 5:00 p.m. Cloverleaf took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Wadsworth, who comes in off a win.

Wadsworth barely beat Solon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Grizzlies were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Comets on Monday.

Lorene Bennett 2025 spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lauren Ball 2025, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Gerber 2026, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Wadsworth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Solon only posted a batting average of .286.

Meanwhile, Cloverleaf was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They lost 7-1 to Springfield.

Cloverleaf's loss dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Wadsworth, their record now sits at 4-8.

Everything went Wadsworth's way against Cloverleaf in their previous meeting back in May of 2016, as Wadsworth made off with a 7-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
