Recap: Newman AAA Cardinals vs. Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech
The Newman AAA Cardinals pushed their score all the way to 67 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 84-67 to Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech. Newman AAA was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Despite the loss, Newman AAA still got an impressive performance from Ryan Mela, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Collins Chidera Onyejiaka, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Newman AAA has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 20-9 record this season. As for Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Newman AAA didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 96-81 defeat vs. Varsity Opponent on the 11th. Putnam Vo-Tech/Sci-Tech will be playing in front of their home fans against Newman AA on Saturday.
