The Bishop Gorman Gaels will take on the Green Valley Gators at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Bishop Gorman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Bishop Gorman was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Trabuco Hills 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Gaels have posted since May 6, 2024.
GIANNA HORNYAK spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on SAMANTHA LEFEVER, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and two runs. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of SOPHIA KIRKPATRICK, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Green Valley made easy work of Foothill on Thursday and carried off a 12-1 victory. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Kamaile Hayama was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Kayana Fejerang was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
Green Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .515. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Green Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Gorman, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Bishop Gorman hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Green Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Bishop Gorman took their win against Green Valley in their previous matchup on Tuesday by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Gaels repeat their success, or do the Gators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
