Softball Game Preview: Ahoskie Christian vs. Faith Christian Academy Conquerors

Ahoskie Christian will venture away from home to challenge the Faith Christian Academy Conquerors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ahoskie Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

Ahoskie Christian is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Community Christian just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cyclones.

Keira Lassiter was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Lauren Dickens led a balanced group of hitters, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kinsley Dunlow, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

Even though they lost, Ahoskie Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Faith Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Pamlico Christian Academy with a sharp 10-3 victory last Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Conquerors needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Ahoskie Christian's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-5. As for Faith Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Ahoskie Christian came up short against Faith Christian Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 16-13. Can Ahoskie Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
