Basketball Recap: Wheatmore Triumphs

It was close, but on Monday the Wheatmore Warriors sidestepped the Eastern Guilford Wildcats for a 48-45 victory.

Avery Ivey was his usual excellent self, putting up 20 points. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rebounds (four). Another player making a difference was Collin Dodd, who posted seven points and nine boards.

The win got Wheatmore back to even at 6-6. As for Eastern Guilford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wheatmore and Southwestern Randolph will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. As for Eastern Guilford, they will face off against Uwharrie Charter Academy at 8:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
