Chincoteague's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Holly Grove Christian. The win continues a trend for the Ponies in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.
The team relied heavily on Meredith Wright, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Faith Stadler, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Middlesex made sure to put some runs up on the board against King & Queen Central on Thursday. The Chargers were the clear victors by a 21-3 margin over the Royal Tigers. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Courtney Jessie and Magen Daniels made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Jessie pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Daniels tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Jessie posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Jessie got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run, while Daniels went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Libby Oliver was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. Carly Jessie was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Middlesex always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .857. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Middlesex has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Chincoteague, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
