Volleyball Game Preview: Classical Purple vs. Cranston West Falcons

The Classical Purple will head out on the road to square off against the Cranston West Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Classical is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: East Greenwich, who was ranked 16th at the time (Classical was ranked third). The Purple fell just short of the Avengers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Classical sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 18-25, 15-10.

Meanwhile, Cranston West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to Coventry.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-8, 25-13.

Classical's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4. As for Cranston West, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Classical came out on top in a nail-biter against Cranston West in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Purple since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
