Baseball Recap: North Laurel Beats Garrard County for Their Third Straight Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but North Laurel ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Garrard County Golden Lions. The win was familiar territory for the Jaguars, who have now won three matches in a row.

Dylan Hurley tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Cam Smith was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of North Laurel's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Cooper Parman also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

North Laurel pushed their record up to 7-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Garrard County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Laurel will square off against Madison Southern at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Garrard County, they will head out to take on Lincoln County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
