Softball Game Preview: Addison Trail Blazers vs. Leyden Eagles

The Addison Trail Blazers will face off against the Leyden Eagles at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Addison Trail fell victim to Berwyn/Cicero Morton and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 1-0. The Blazers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Leyden came up short against Hinsdale South on Friday and fell 7-4. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Arianna Gallo was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gianna Olan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Abigail Cortez, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Addison Trail's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Leyden, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
