Soccer Game Preview: Germantown Academy vs. Malvern Prep

The Germantown Academy Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Malvern Prep Friars at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Germantown Academy and four for Malvern Prep.

Germantown Academy fell victim to William Penn Charter and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to the Quakers. While losing is never fun, Germantown Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while William Penn Charter are ranked 20th).

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Malvern Prep was not quite Springside Chestnut Hill Academy's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that Malvern Prep have lost by just one goal.

Malvern Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6-2. As for Germantown Academy, they now have a losing record of 4-5-3.

Germantown Academy couldn't quite get it done against Malvern Prep in their previous meeting back in September as they fell 3-1. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
