Football Game Preview: Sharyland Rattlers vs. Porter Cowboys

The Sharyland Rattlers will be playing at home against the Porter Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sharyland will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Last Friday, everything came up roses for Sharyland against Pioneer as the team secured a 42-13 win. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Rattlers had established a 21-point advantage.

Sharyland's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Calvin Harris, who rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns, and Kevin Alaniz, who gained 171 total yards and two touchdowns. Alaniz's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 118 rushing yards. Another rusher making a difference was Abram Carrasco, who gained 101 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sharyland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 398 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Porter came up short against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest on Thursday, falling 34-14. The defeat continues a trend for the Cowboys in their meetings with the Javelinas: they've now lost three in a row.

Sharyland's record now sits at 7-3. As for Porter, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
