Basketball Recap: Oneida Express vs. Central Valley Academy Thunder
Oneida had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-8 to make it eight. They were dealt an 81-37 defeat at the hands of the Central Valley Academy Thunder. While losing is never fun, the Express can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 841st, while the Thunder are ranked 167th).
As for Central Valley Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-2. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 25 points or more this season.
Calvin Jacquays had another great game (as he tends to do), going 11-for-20 en route to 27 points and five steals. Those five steals gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Smalls, who posted 14 points and three blocks.
Coming up, Oneida will head out on the road to face off against Camden at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Valley Academy has already played their next contest (against Notre Dame), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
