Softball Preview: Hammond Tornadoes vs. Ponchatoula Green Wave

Hammond is 0-10 against Ponchatoula since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Hammond Tornadoes will play host again on Monday to welcome the Ponchatoula Green Wave, where first pitch is scheduled at 4:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Ponchatoula put the finishing touches on their 14th blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They never let De La Salle onto the board and left with a 22-0 win. Ponchatoula's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Abby Dagro made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (she also only allowed one walk). Dagro has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Dagro was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Ponchatoula got a massive performance out of Christina Curtis, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with a home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sydni Stanga, who went 1-for-3 with a home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Hammond's loss dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Ponchatoula, they pushed their record up to 21-7 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
