Volleyball Recap: Chloe Esslinger's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Plymouth Whitemarsh over Unionville

Plymouth Whitemarsh and Unionville squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Plymouth Whitemarsh had to settle for second. They came up short against the Longhorns, falling 3-0. The Colonials have struggled against the Longhorns recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

While Plymouth Whitemarsh had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-22, 25-18.

Plymouth Whitemarsh's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chloe Esslinger, who had 14 digs and four assists. Esslinger is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Plymouth Whitemarsh's defeat dropped their record down to 20-5-1. As for Unionville, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-0-2.

Plymouth Whitemarsh does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Unionville, they will welcome Bishop Shanahan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
