Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Christian Tigers vs. Community Christian Cyclones

The Trinity Christian Tigers and the Community Christian Cyclones will face off at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. The timing is sure in Trinity Christian's favor as the team sits on 13 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Community Christian has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

On Monday, Trinity Christian earned a 39-32 win over Eastern Christian HomeSchool.

Trinity Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Macey Skinner out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. What's more, Skinner also racked up three steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Riley Burnham, who posted 12 points along with seven boards and six steals.

Trinity Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Community Christian ended up a good deal behind New Bern Christian Academy on Monday and lost 45-27. While losing is never fun, the Cyclones can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 411th, while New Bern Christian Academy are ranked 116th).

Trinity Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points per game. As for Community Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Everything came up roses for Trinity Christian against Community Christian in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, as the squad secured a 62-23 win. In that game, Trinity Christian amassed a halftime lead of 36-15, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
