Softball Recap: Maquoketa Gets the Win

Maquoketa posted their closest win since June 28, 2025 on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Marquette Mohawks 8-7. For the Cardinals, this counts as revenge for the 5-2 win the Mohawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in June of 2016.

Maquoketa has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Marquette, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Maquoketa will welcome Marion at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marquette, they are taking a road trip to challenge Maquoketa Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
