Softball Recap: London Comes Up Short

London had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 14-9 to make it four. They fell 6-1 to the Bishop Badgers. The Pirates were not able to make up for their defeat to the Badgers from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

As for Bishop, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

For Bishop's part, Cambrie Rios spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. Rios has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bishop let Makenzie Thomas and Jasmine Ramirez run wild. Thomas went 1-for-2 with one home run, while Ramirez went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

London does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bishop, they will challenge St. Joseph at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Flyers will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Badgers surely won't give up without a fight.
