Baseball Recap: Shawnee Comes Up Short

Graham Local hit Shawnee with a four-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Braves took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Braves of the 4-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Noah Belcher put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Hudson Kress made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Shawnee and nudges their season record down to 13-7. As for Graham Local, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-15.

Coming up, Graham Local will be playing at home against Indian Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shawnee will be paying especially close attention to the Falcons' contest: after the Falcons face off against the Lakers, they'll take on Shawnee again at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
