Softball Recap: Charity Christian Starts Season with Win on the Road

Charity Christian had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors with a sharp 16-0 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Raptors: they've now won five in a row.

Charity Christian got a great performance from Mattie Laflin as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Molly Carpenter was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Ella Laflin was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Charity Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Lure Classical Academy only posted an OBP of .278.

Lake Lure Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Charity Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 10-0 loss against Forsyth Home Educators on the 20th. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 17-5 defeat against Community Christian Academy on the 21st.
