Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Sunbright

Sunbright entered their tilt with Rockwood on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Rockwood Tigers by a score of 43-30. Sunbright has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Rockwood, too.

Sunbright got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cassidy Young out in front who posted 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Young has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckenna Smith, who had 13 points and five steals.

Sunbright smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Sunbright has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Rockwood, they dropped their record down to 3-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunbright will take on Coalfield at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rockwood, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Rockwood Tigers duke it out with the Oliver Springs Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
