Baseball Game Preview: Topsail Pirates vs. New Hanover Wildcats

The Topsail Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the New Hanover Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Topsail fell victim to Ashley and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Screaming Eagle. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Pirates were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, New Hanover had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They never let the Scorpions get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly four runs.

New Hanover's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Topsail, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6.

Topsail came up short against New Hanover in their previous meeting back in March, falling 11-6. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
