Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Baldwin

If Field Kindley wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Baldwin, they should've done a better job of containing Cooper Carr. The Bulldogs breezed past the Golden Tornado to the tune of 64-37 on Saturday thanks in part to Carr, who shot 58% from the field en route to 17 points along with seven assists and seven steals. He has become a key player for Baldwin: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three steals, but 1-2 otherwise.

Another player making a difference was Leo Schoenberger, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. His big performance that afternoon made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Baldwin, bringing their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points over those games. As for Field Kindley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Baldwin will head out to square off against Tonganoxie at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Chieftains' rather soft defense (which has allowed 70.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Field Kindley, they will challenge Independence on Tuesday.
