Baseball Recap: Niles North Has No Trouble Against Hoffman Estates

It was close, but on Thursday the Niles North Vikings sidestepped the Hoffman Estates Hawks for a 5-3 win. That looming 5-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.

Ryan Lockerby tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ari Colish, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Vasquez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

The victory got Niles North back to even at 3-3-1. As for Hoffman Estates, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Niles North will challenge Evanston at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hoffman Estates, they will be playing at home against Steinmetz College Prep at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
