Tyler Carlson leads a balanced attack to beat Fossil Ridge

Recap: Monarch Coyotes vs. Fossil Ridge SaberCats

Even though the Monarch Coyotes have not done well against the Fossil Ridge SaberCats recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Monarch secured a 46-42 W over Fossil Ridge. The victory was familiar territory for Monarch who now have four in a row.

Monarch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyler Carlson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Graham Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.

Several SaberCats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eli Nutting, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Walker Shields, who scored nine points.

Monarch has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Fossil Ridge, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monarch won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mountain Range at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th. Mountain Range has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Fossil Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Prairie View at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Prairie View will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Fossil Ridge is ranked 33rd).
