Saugus is a perfect 6-0 against Castaic since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Centurions will square off against the Coyotes at 3:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Saugus has four straight victories, Castaic has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Saugus had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Jurupa Hills on Saturday. The Centurions blew past the Spartans 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Centurions, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Saugus got a great performance from Riley Nelson as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Nelson has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Savanna Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Shepherd, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Saugus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in nine consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Castaic's offense. They lost 10-0 to Canyon on Tuesday.
Castaic's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Saugus, their record is now 14-4.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Saugus hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .397. However, it's not like Castaic struggles in that department as they've averaged .401. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Saugus took their win against Castaic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 25-0 score. Will the Centurions repeat their success, or do the Coyotes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
