Baseball Game Preview: Leyden Eagles vs. Willowbrook Warriors

Leyden hasn't had much luck against Willowbrook recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Saturday, Leyden didn't have quite enough to beat Glenbard West and fell 6-5.

Sammy Calderon was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Hassan Khrawish was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Willowbrook's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They came up short against Oak Park-River Forest, falling 11-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Warriors have suffered since April 23rd.

Jake Bonino made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Sam Marrese, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Willowbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 22-7. As for Leyden, their loss dropped their record down to 15-13.
