Baseball Recap: Hollins Has No Trouble Against Tarpon Springs

Hollins not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 10th. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Tarpon Springs Spongers. The victory continues a trend for the Royals in their matchups with the Spongers: they've now won four in a row.

Aiden Bordner looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has become a key player for Hollins: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Aaron Anderson was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Justin Stiles was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Hollins pushed their record up to 8-12 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Tarpon Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hollins will challenge IMG Academy Black at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Ascenders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Royals' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tarpon Springs, they will face off against Anclote at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spongers are facing the Sharks at the right time seeing as the Sharks are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
