Basketball Game Preview: Nebraska City Pioneers vs. Wahoo Warriors

Nebraska City is 0-5 against Wahoo since December of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Nebraska City Pioneers will square off against the Wahoo Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Nebraska City didn't have too much trouble with Conestoga as they won 39-21. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pioneers.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wahoo). They really took it to Lincoln Lutheran for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-22 victory. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Wahoo considering their 18-point performance the match before.

Nebraska City better focus on containing Erin Golladay and Addy Hancock as the pair were huge in Wahoo's win. Golladay posted 16 points, while Hancock had 15 points. Those 16 points gave Golladay a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Claire Emerson, who earned nine points.

Nebraska City has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Wahoo, they moved to 4-6 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Nebraska City might still be hurting after the 46-22 defeat they got from Wahoo in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Nebraska City, Sidney Smart (who went 6 of 12 on her way to 17 points in addition to six boards and four steals) won't be suiting up this time.
