Football Recap: Sachse's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Sachse dropped to 2-2 on Friday, ending the team's six-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They fell 34-27 to the Wylie Pirates. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Sachse lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Marcus Rhoden, who picked up 122 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. He was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 60 yards. Roderick Rainwater handled things on the ground, rushing for 84 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Even if they lost, Sachse's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Willehado Palomo, Zaivehn Ramsey, and Trindon Bennett, who each picked up one sack apiece. Sachse received some extra help from Walker Williams, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

As for Wylie, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.0 points over those games.

Leading Wylie to victory were Daylon Gordon and Jabriran B Blake. Gordon gained 279 total yards and three touchdowns, while B Blake rushed for 92 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave B Blake a new career-high in passer rating (120).

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Sachse is set to take on their familiar foe Lakeview Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Wylie will square off against rival South Garland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
