Softball Game Preview: Denison Yellow Jackets vs. Anna Coyotes

The Denison Yellow Jackets will venture away from home to square off against the Anna Coyotes at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Denison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Denison easily dispatched Greenville on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Denison fell just short of Sherman by a score of 10-8 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Yellow Jackets have suffered since February 28th.

Addison Ciaccio led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Lynli Dickinson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Denison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. This was only their first loss (out of seven games) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Anna was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They came up short against Walnut Grove, falling 16-1. The Coyotes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anna's loss dropped their record down to 6-5-1. As for Denison, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.
