Basketball Game Preview: Metea Valley Mustangs vs. Naperville North Huskies

The Metea Valley Mustangs and the Naperville North Huskies will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Metea Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Neuqua Valley, taking the game 57-49. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 309th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

While Naperville North didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Aurora East 67-45 on Saturday. The Huskies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 22 points or more this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Naperville North and bumps their season record up to 6-2. As for Metea Valley, their win bumped their record up to an identical 6-2.

Metea Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Naperville North in their previous meeting back in February, but they still walked away with a 53-48 victory. Will Metea Valley repeat their success, or does Naperville North have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
