Baseball Game Preview: Watchung Hills Regional Warriors vs. Summit Hilltoppers

The Watchung Hills Regional Warriors will head out to square off against the Summit Hilltoppers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Watchung Hills Regional is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering North Hunterdon just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 9-8.

ROB CENTAMORE made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was JACOB JACONSKI, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Summit had taken Westfield down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Hilltoppers took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils. The Hilltoppers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Summit saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shane Walsh, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Watchung Hills Regional's record is now 10-7. As for Summit, their record now sits at 7-9.

Summit's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Watchung Hills Regional hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for Summit, though, as they've only averaged .247. Will they be able to contain Watchung Hills Regional's hitters?

Watchung Hills Regional couldn't quite get it done against Summit in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 13-8. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
