Volleyball Recap: Sparta Comes Up Short

Sparta was the 2-0 winner over Northwestern when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Spartans fell 2-0 to the Tigers on Thursday. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Izzy Mickelson paced Sparta's offense, picking up four kills. Mickelson got some help from Kaylie Church and her seven assists. Finally, Emersyn Pitsenbarger kept Sparta's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Sparta's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Northwestern, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Sparta wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Ladysmith on the 28th. As for Northwestern, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Fall Creek on the 28th.
