Baseball Recap: Del Oro Takes a Loss

Del Oro had lost 16 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-13 to make it 17. They lost 11-0 to the Foothill Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Suns of the 19-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Foothill, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

For Foothill's part, Joaquin Carrillo made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Carrillo a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Marcos Carbajal was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Carlos Ruano, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

While Del Oro had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
