Softball Recap: Perry Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Perry extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping them up to 17-9. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Tucson High Magnet School Badgers 2-0. The Pumas were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Badgers, so the Pumas were just returning the favor.

The result came thanks to Brynlee Brassfield's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ashlin Miller was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Perry kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

As for Tucson High Magnet School, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since May 13, 2025.

On Tucson High Magnet School's side, Nyree Sedano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Tucson High Magnet School saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylie Nieblas, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Perry will challenge Chandler at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.56 runs per game on average), something the Pumas will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they will take on Walden Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
