Baseball Game Preview: Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans vs. Phoenix Christian Cougars

For the first time this season, Scottsdale Preparatory Academy will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Monday. They are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will square off against the Phoenix Christian Cougars at 3:45 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy is headed out to face Phoenix Christian after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy never let Tempe Prep get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Spartans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Sehaj Malhi was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jax Zawada, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Phoenix Christian put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over Chino Valley. The result was nothing new for Phoenix Christian, who have now won three matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Phoenix Christian got a big performance out of Nate Burton, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Burton posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Kevin Palafox was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy skirted past Phoenix Christian 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Will Scottsdale Preparatory Academy repeat their success, or does Phoenix Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
