Softball Game Preview: Lake Norman Wildcats vs. Weddington Warriors

The Lake Norman Wildcats will challenge the Weddington Warriors on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lake Norman is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over East Forsyth. The victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on four straight.

Charlee Kelly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Avery Evans, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Olivia Wolf was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Weddington, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let East Mecklenburg get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday.

Weddington's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Lake Norman, their victory bumped their record up to 16-9.
