Football Game Preview: St. Brendan Sabres vs. Northwestern Bulls

The St. Brendan Sabres will challenge the Northwestern Bulls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: St. Brendan has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Northwestern will arrive with seven straight victories.

St. Brendan's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Immaculata-La Salle on Saturday. They were beaten by the Royal Lions 40-0. While losing is never fun, the Sabres can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Royal Lions are ranked 93rd).

Meanwhile, Northwestern owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They blew past Palmetto, posting a 28-0 win. Considering the Bulls have won five games by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Northwestern found their leader in sophomore Neiman Lawrence, who threw for 223 yards and three TDs. Tarvail Mathis helped Lawrence out on the ground, rushing for 48 yards and one score.

Northwestern's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Demarcus King and Shane Rochelle, who racked up five sacks between them. King is crushing it when it comes to sacks: he's posted at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Northwestern's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for St. Brendan, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
