Volleyball Preview: Mt. Zion Braves vs. MacArthur Generals
Mt. Zion has been away from home for six games now, but on Thursday they'll finally make their return. They will host the MacArthur Generals at 7:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Last Monday, Mt. Zion had just enough and edged Lincoln out 2-1.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Mt. Zion got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-19, 15-25, 25-22.
Meanwhile, MacArthur sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Okaw Valley on Saturday.
If you add up the scores from across all three sets (59-54) MacArthur actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 14-25, 15-12.
Mt. Zion's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-6. As for MacArthur, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-18.
Mt. Zion was able to grind out a solid victory over MacArthur in their previous matchup back in September of 2023, winning 2-0. Will Mt. Zion repeat their success, or does MacArthur have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
